Editing and cancelling an inpatient admission
amend admission, reverse discharge
You can edit when a patient was admitted and discharged from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Inpatient. This includes inpatient visits, visits as a ward attender, visits to an assessment area, and visits to a virtual ward.
You can edit the ward and bed the patient was admitted to, and the consultant and specialty responsible for the patient when the patient was admitted. You can edit these during or after the patient's visit. For example, another user entered the incorrect ward and bed. You add the correct ward and bed so you can track the patient accurately during their visit.
You can cancel a patient's current visit. If you cancel a visit, all data against the visit is discarded. You might do this if the wrong patient was admitted and you want to cancel the admission.

You can't do this on a mobile.

Editing an admission form
From Case Notes, you can view an admission form after it has been submitted.
From Patient admin, you can view and edit the admission form after it has been submitted. The form shows the current values, and not the values from when the form was submitted. Changes you make to the admission form don't cause Nervecentre to send new letters.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to a visit.

Select Edit Admit Form.

Select fields on the form to edit them.

To save and leave the form, select Close.
Changing a patient's admission time

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to a visit.

Select Change admission time.

Enter the date and time the patient was admitted.

Select Update.
Changing details of an admission

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to a visit.

Select Change admission details.

Select the ward the patient was admitted to.

Select the bed the patient was admitted to.

Select the consultant responsible for the patient when the patient was admitted.

Select the specialty of the consultant.

Optional: if the patient is under the care of more than one consultant:

From Shared Care Consultant, select a consultant that is also caring for the patient.
To remove the consultant, mouseover Shared Care Consultant, select ▼ > Clear.

From Shared Care Specialty (for consultant), select the specialty of that consultant.
To remove the specialty, mouseover Shared Care Specialty (for consultant), select ▼ > Clear.
The patient banner displays +1 under Consultant / Specialty. Mouseover +1 to view the consultant and specialty.

Select Update.
Editing a discharge form
From Case Notes, you can view a discharge form after it has been submitted.

Changing a patient's discharge time

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to a visit.

Select Change discharge time.

Enter the discharge date and time.

Select Update.
Cancelling an admission
You can cancel a patient's current visit. You can't cancel a previous visit.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to the patient's current visit.

Select Cancel admission.
A warning appears. If you cancel the visit, all data against this visit is discarded. This can't be undone.

Enter a reason for cancelling the patient's visit.

Select Cancel admission.
Cancelling discharge
If you discharged a patient in error, you can cancel their discharge.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

From Discharged Inpatient Stays, select next to the patient's most recent visit.

Select Cancel discharge.

Enter a reason for cancelling the patient's discharge.

Select Cancel Discharge.
